DEVLOG #2 [Mar - Apr 2025]

Devlog #2: March - April 2025

Hello again, amateur taxidermists! It’s been another couple of busy months, and I’m now four months into development on Amateur Taxidermy, a fast-paced, weird little time-management game where you run your own bizarre pet taxidermy shop.

What's new?

This month has been a big one for building out the game’s systems and adding some visual polish. Here’s a look at what I’ve been working on:

  • Level Managers: I’ve set up a flexible system for managing levels behind the scenes, so I can now more easily build and test new gameplay scenarios.

  • Animal Data Managers: Each animal now has its own success criteria stored in a dedicated system that you'll need to aim for to achieve a high score

  • New Animals: I’ve added two new animals, including a cat and a snake

  • Visual Polish: I’ve been working on adding stylish backgrounds and fun visual details to make the whole experience feel more alive and surreal

  • Character Customisation: You’ll now be able to design your own avatar! This will also help me generate quirky customers more easily in the future

  • More accessories: Now there are hats and accessories to add to your creations

Future Plans

There's still plenty of work to be done in the next few months, including

  • More different animal types
  • Customers who provide feedback
  • Recipe cards that indicate each animal's requirements
  • A 'story mode' of levels to play through

How you can contribute

Share Your Ideas:

Have a suggestion for a whacky creature, a funny customer, or a gameplay feature? I’d love to hear it! Drop your ideas in the comments or reach out to me at deadongamesonline@gmail.com

Spread the Word:

If you’re excited about Amateur Taxidermy, tell your friends! The more people who know about the game, the better I can make it.

Conclusion

That’s it for this month’s update! I’m incredibly excited about how things are coming together, and I can’t wait to show you even more soon. Thanks again for all your support and weird ideas — keep them coming!
