Short RPG Maker horror game that lets you explore the anomalous city SCP-1678 Unlondon

SCP-1678 is a EUCLID class entity otherwise known as Unlondon. SCP-1678 is a full scale reconstruction of London located exactly one kilometre underneath the original city of London.

In this game you'll explore the streets, buildings and cemeteries of Unlondon as an SCP Mobile Task Force officer looking for your missing team members. Find items to unlock new areas, refill your health with 'Dr. Goody's Wonderfood' and fight the horrifying entities that dwell in the forgotten city.

This game was created as a game jam submission for 3rd RPG maker horror game jam.

Used software / resources:

SCP-1678 Unlondon is based on "SCP-1678" by "AstronautJoe":  Original SCP entry page

This is my first game jam submission and my first time making a game with RPG maker so please let me know if you come across any problems/bugs in your playthrough!

El juego esta muy bien hecho 10/10

It um- it turned into Final Fantasy- interesting.

Very accurate! Good research. You could make a good Doctor one day if you'd so like.

Just imagine a dude pulls a bazooka on one of them like :)

Is it my bad ear or this menu music is from "Consummate: Missing World" game?

Not sure Prot4ner. This was one of the first ever RPG Maker games I ever attempted so it's most likely some default music provided by RPG Maker itself.

I downloaded it on steam again and yeah it's the same soundtrack. As you said it must be provided by RPG maker.

Last update before the end of the submission window for 3RD RPG Maker Horror game jam.

Updates:

  • Added background music and battle music
  • Enemies & character miss less in battle
  • Wretch is now a more deadly enemy - deals more damage and can use double attack

I think it needs music because the silence is weird, or at music in battles. I think moves miss too often. I think I found a glitch which was at the beginning of the game I straight away managed to get the ending. Now I have a key but can't find where to use it

Hi Jaclyn, thanks for letting me know, I had uploaded a version with an extra chest for testing and didn't realise. That should be it fixed now. Also looking at balancing the combat system more but it should miss less often than before now.

Thanks for the comments, I really didn't expect anyone to play this, let alone want to download it. I've made lots of changes to the game based on your suggestions since yesterday:

Updates:

  • All chests are now only openable once
  • Entrances / exits in areas made more clear with paths and carpets
  • Enemies are now in sideview during battles
  • Added some battle backgrounds to different map locations
  • Gave the main character an actual name (oof this one's on me, I thought 'Main Char' was just the variable name)
  • You shouldn't be able to walk onto walls / objects anymore
  • Removed most random encounters (there is still one but it's in a very specific region)
  • Balanced out the combat between enemies and main character
  • Fixed the double attack skill
  • Removed confusing cave in basement, it was just decoration
  • Added some objects you can walk up to and it will show some text about the object
  • The game has multiple endings!
  • The outro cutscenes explain the story a little bit better
  • No more confusing 'game over' endings
  • Enemies that roam around the map - some are passive and will just wander around, and some are aggressive and will chase you. Interacting with the triggers a battle to start. They will respawn after a while to keep the game's difficulty up.
  • Some people asked about a downloadable version so I added one as well

    So there's only 1 ending?

    (+2)

    Not anymore, two endings! BOOM!

    (+2)

Any plans on making this a downloadable standalone program version?

    (+2)

I would enjoy that, I have a entire scp game folder and this would fit nicly

Great suggestion Laurasoft, I added a newer updated version that's downloadable.
